What services do BackCloud provide?

BackCloud provides affordable cloud storage and backup services for individuals who require a cloud-based storage and backup solution. Our products include cloud storage plans and automatic computer backup software at different price points to cater for consumers with different needs.

Is my cloud storage capacity really unlimited?

Yes, there is no limit on storage capacity for the BackLite and BackPro plans. However, to prevent abuse of this system as well as maintain high speed and reliable connections for all our customers, there is a monthly upload and download limit for each subscription. If you need to extend the limit for any reason, simple contact our customer service by phone or email and we’ll remove the limit for your account for a month.

Are the files that I uploaded safe?

Definitely, BackCloud takes data security very seriously. All data that is uploaded to our servers are encrypted with AES-256 before they are being stored. Your data is only accessible by you and no one else, even the staff at BackCloud. Our security department also constantly ensures that our servers are protected with the latest anti-virus definitions and any flaws or loopholes are patched as soon as possible.

Will my data on BackCloud be lost from drive failures?

No, BackCloud servers are built with redundancy where data is written simultaneously in real time to multiple drives. In an event of a drive failure, our specialised custom-built software can rebuild the data onto working drives quickly. We also calculate the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBR) to estimate the lifespan of our drives. The data enables us to replace most drives before they fail to maintain maximum operation efficiency of our servers.

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?

For monthly subscriptions, you can cancel your plan any time without any additional fees. For yearly subscriptions, there is a cancellation fee of SGD 20.00 for BackPlus and SGD 40.00 for BackPro.

What happens to my account if I cancel my subscription?

Your account will be reverted to a free BackLite account. All data that you upload before you cancel your subscription will remain in your account. However, if your data exceeds 1TB (2TB for students), you will not be able to upload any more files until you delete enough of your data. Your previously uploaded data will remain available for download for 6 months before they will be locked. After 6 months, you’ll need to purchase a subscription to access your data again.

I have a slow internet connection. Is it possible for me to retrieve a large amount of data quickly?

Yes, you can get a copy of all or part of your data that is uploaded to BackCloud in physical storage device that will be mailed to you in 7 working days. For HDDs, the fee will be SGD 50.00 / TB. For SSDs, the fee will be SGD 500.00 / TB.
